I create from life.
BSM Art grew from a love of making things, experimenting with materials and turning the experiences that stay with me into something physical.
I don't consider myself tied to one particular style or medium. My inspiration comes from the world around me — the places I travel, the cultures I experience, the people I meet, the ocean, conversations, relationships, life events and sometimes simply a feeling that I can't quite put into words.
Japan has become a particularly strong influence on my work. I was captivated by the contrast between tradition and modern life, the attention to detail, the patterns and craftsmanship, and the way objects can carry history with them. I love finding older materials such as vintage obi and giving them another life within something completely new.
My work often combines timber, acrylic, textiles, resin and other materials that catch my imagination. Sometimes I begin with a clear idea. Other times I simply start creating and allow the piece to tell me where it wants to go.
I don't want BSM Art to be about producing things that all look the same. I want each piece to have its own reason for existing and its own story to tell.
Some are inspired by places. Some by people. Some by moments in my life. And some come from somewhere much deeper within.
For me, creating is about connection — between the past and the present, between cultures, between people, and between what we experience and what we feel.
Life creates the stories. I give them shape.
